2tamOmitraM – This is how it is given in the books. As 'mitra' means 'Sun', it has been translated as 'Sun (mitraM) who dispels the darkness (tamaH) (tamO-mitraM). However, it is not clear whether sandhi rules permit such a splitting and whether it should be split as ‘tamaH+amitram’ (tamOऽmitraM). In both cases, overall meaning does not change.
